At Winton Primary we are very proud to have a School Council who are always striving to raise pupil voice in the school. These children work hard to ensure every child has a say. As we are such a large school with a lot of children we have three school councils running alongside each other.
Meet the team!
Year 1 and 2
Year 3 and 4
Years 5 and 6
There is a School Council member representing each year group from year’s 1-6.
Each phase meets every two to three weeks to discuss how pupil voice can improve around the school. The children are very enthusiastic and enjoy sharing their ideas. Each school council have a similar agenda each meeting and work together to run assemblies and fundraising events.
This year the School Council have worked alongside house captains to fundraise.
To improve our school playground, the school council have decided they would like the playground re painted.
This is a large task to undertake so keep an eye out for fundraising events throughout the year to help fund this.
Bournemouth Septenary Trust Parliament
The BST parliament is an opportunity for children across the seven trust schools to meet and discuss a range of issues that arise from their schools. It also provides an occasion for the seven schools to unite and collaborate on an issue which helps to improve our local community.
The parliament itself is made up of 2 representatives from each school who meet each term. The agendas are set by the teachers but the children are encouraged to run the meetings themselves. After the meetings, the children report back to the school council here at Winton. The group all enjoy their meetings and feel that they are making a real difference in their community.
Our next collaborative project is based around food banks and collecting food for those who need it most.
