Apples at the River

The Apple class have been on their first ever school trip, and we went down to the river.  The children have been learning all about the changes we see as the season changes to autumn. We have talked about how the weather changes and therefore how it affects the plants and animals. We took the children on the bus to the River Stour and visited the 'Stour Valley Nature reserve' at the Kingfisher barn on Granby Road.  When we arrived we met with the rangers and they took us to our activiites. We had a great time in the river with our nets looking for wildlife and found some fish and some river insects. Then we went on an autumn walk where we used a checklist to see what we could see. We also made a nature bracelet, collecting leaves of different colours and sizes.  The children were all fantastically behaved and had a brilliant time, even if we did come back with a few with wet socks....
